Which Hermès Bags
Give the Most Profit?

The models, sizes, leathers and colours that consistently deliver the strongest margins on resale, and why.

The logic is simple. The wider the gap between what you pay at retail and what the secondary market pays when you sell, the bigger the profit. The trick is that gap varies massively between models. Smaller retail price plus high resale demand equals the best margin.

Platform prices are not market prices

When you see a bag listed on Vestiaire Collective, 1stDibs or similar platforms, that is the asking price, not what it actually sells for. These platforms also charge the seller a commission of around 15 to 25 percent on top. The actual market price is what a dealer pays you directly, with no fee and no waiting. That figure is always lower than what you see listed, because both the platform margin and the seller margin have to come out of that number. Use platform listings as a rough directional guide, not as a price target.

The top performers

These are ranked by which gives the best margin relative to what you paid at retail. No resale prices listed here because they vary too much by colour and timing to be useful as fixed numbers. What matters is the logic of why each model performs.

01

Mini Kelly 20, Epsom

Retail approx. €7,450 in Europe

The single best model for margin right now. The retail price is the lowest in the entire Birkin and Kelly range, but the secondary market demand is among the highest. Buyers who cannot get one through a boutique are willing to pay a very significant premium for a fresh piece in a desirable colour. The gap between what you pay and what you can get for it is larger here than on any other standard model.

02

Birkin 25, Togo or Epsom

Retail approx. €9,600 in Europe

The most in-demand Birkin size. Supply is structurally constrained because Hermès allocates fewer 25s than 30s, which keeps the premium strong. In a classic neutral colour with gold or palladium hardware, this bag has one of the most liquid resale markets in the range. Sells fast, sells well, broad buyer pool.

03

Birkin 30, Togo or Epsom

Retail approx. €10,600 in Europe

The widest buyer pool of any Hermès bag. More supply than the 25, which means the premium is somewhat lower, but the ease and speed of sale is unmatched. If you want to sell quickly and reliably, the Birkin 30 in a neutral colour is the most liquid combination that exists. The margin is solid even if not the highest.

04

Kelly 25, Epsom Sellier

Retail approx. €9,700 to €10,000 in Europe

Rising demand and a Sellier premium over the Retourné version. The Kelly 25 is increasingly sought after by collectors who want the compact, structured Kelly look. Harder to find at retail than a Birkin 25, which pushes the premium higher. Strong and getting stronger.

05

Birkin 35, Togo

Retail approx. €11,800 in Europe

Demand for the Birkin 35 has been increasing. A strong buyer pool, particularly among clients who want a proper daily bag with real capacity. Reliable performer in classic neutrals.

06

Kelly 28, Epsom

Retail approx. €10,000 in Europe

The most versatile Kelly. Strong secondary demand, broad buyer pool, works across almost all occasions. Not quite the premium of the 25, but a reliable and solid performer that sells consistently.

07

Kelly 25 — Togo

Retail approx. €9,700 in Europe

The Kelly 25 in Togo sits just below the Epsom Sellier in resale demand but is a consistent performer. The softer Retourné construction in Togo appeals to buyers who want the Kelly look with a more relaxed feel. Reliable and easy to sell.
